ÖZCAN ALPER
He was born in Artvin in 1975. He studied at the Department of Physics and the History of Science between 1992-2003 at Istanbul University. He participated in many cinema workshops between 1996-2006 and worked as assistant of director in various films. His debut film "Autumn" competed in the main competition at the 2009 Locarno Film festival. Here he received the Art and Cicae award. With the same film, the European film academy was nominated him for the discovery award of the year. His second film, “The Future Lasts Forever”, made its world premiere at the 36th Toronto International Film Festival. His third film, “Memories of the Wind” was supported by the Cannes Film Festival Cinefoundation L’Atelier and the Rotterdam Film Festival, Hubert Bals Film Fund.The film made the European promiere at the Rotterdam film festival. In 2018, with 10 directors from around the world, he made a short animated film called "Among the Ruins", adapted from the poetry of the poet Jose Sarrionandia. This film premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival. He is currently in the post-production stage of his fourth film, "BLACK NIGHT", which he has completed his shooting.
